کیهان‌شناسی قوشچی؛ نجات پدیدارها به‌جای نظریه‌پردازی در مورد حرکات اجرام آسمانی

ستاره‌شناسان در دوره‌های متاخر نجوم اسلامی بیشتر تحت تاثیر فلسفه طبیعی ابن‌سینا قرار داشند. بنابراین بر روی استفاده از مبانی فلسفه طبیعی در تئوری‌های نجومی متمرکز شدند و همین موضوع باعث نقد به مساله معدل‌المسیر بطلمیوس و ابداع مدل‌های جایگزین شد. ریشه ابداع این مدل‌ها را باید در علاقه مسلمانان به قائل‌شدن طبیعت مادی برای افلاک و در نتیجه جست‌وجوی علل پدیده‌ها در مبانی فلسفی دید. این درحالی ‌است که بطلمیوس از مدل‌های خود تنها برای تبیین جهان بهره می‌برد و ظاهراَ حداقل در مجسطی به‌دنبال یافتن علل حرکات نبود. اعتقادات فلسفی ستاره‌شناسان درخصوص حرکت افلاک را در مباحث دیگری چون جنس افلاک، بساطت آنها و نوع حرکات آنها می‌توان ملاحظه کرد که همگی ریشه درتلاش برای یافتن علل حرکات سیارات و افلاک دارد. علاءالدین علی قوشچی دانشمندی است که در انتهای دوره درخشش نجوم اسلامی سعی در نوعی بازگشت به تبیین پدیدارها به‌جای جست‌‌وجو در علل مبتنی بر فلسفه طبیعی دارد. دلیل این موضوع را باید در بی‌اعتمادی به مبانی فلسفی دانست که خود ریشه در تجربیات و نگرش‌های خاص قوشچی دارد که در این مقاله به آنها پرداخته خواهد شد.
