بررسی نظریۀ هنجارمندیِ منطق با تکیه بر انتقاداتِ هارمن و ارائۀ تبیینی از این نظریه

چنانکه اصول اخلاقی افعالِ ما را هنجارگذاری نموده، آنها را به درست(correct)و نادرست(incorrect)تقسیم می‌نمایند، اصول و قوانینِ منطق نیز بر اساسِ نظریۀ هنجارمندیِ منطق (normativity of logic)تفکر و استدلالاتِ معمول در زبانِ روزمره را هنجارگذاری می‌نمایند. صورتبندی‌های گوناگونی از این نظریه در متون فلسفی وجود دارد که محل بحث و منازعاتِ گسترده‌ای در متون فلسفی از چند دهۀ گذشته تا حال حاظر بوده‌اند. در مقاله پیش رو صورتبندی‌های مذکور را با تکیه بر انتقاداتِ مشهورِ گیلبرت هارمنعلیهِ تز هنجارمندی منطق، به بحث و بررسی خواهیم گذاشت. راهبردِ کلیِ هارمن برای نقدِ هنجارمندیِ منطق، تلاش برایِ توجیه این مدعاست که هیچ صورتبندیِ معقولی از هنجارمندیِ منطق نمی‌توان ارائه نمود. ما نیز پس از بررسی استدلالاتِ هارمن، استدلال خواهیم نمود که می‌توان صورتبندی قابل قبولی از این تز ارائه داد به طوری که نقدهایِ هارمن بر آن کارگر نیفتد. در گام آخر نیز تبیینی از چرایی هنجارمندیِ منطق بر اساسِ معنا و مفهومِ باور ارائه خواهیم نمود. بدین منظور ابتدا نظریۀ مهمی در موردِ مفهومِ باور که در متون فلسفی به نظریۀ هنجارمندی باور (normativity of belief) مشهور است را تشریح و سپس استدلال می‌کنیم که نظریه مذکور مستلزمِ هنجارمندیِ منطق است.

A study of the normativity of logic thesis on the basis of Harman’s criticisms and proposing an explanation for the thesis

As moral principles constrain our actions normatively, distinguish them into correct and incorrect categories; according to normativity of logic thesis, logical principles constrain normatively our thinking and reasoning (e.g. see MacFarlane 2004; Steinberger 2017a, 2017b, 2017c). There are various formulations for the normativity in the literature which have been subject to sever debates in the last decades. In this paper I will consider such formulations on the basis of Harman’s (1984, 1986) famous objections. Harman’s strategy to criticize the normativity is try to justify the claim that there is no rational way to formulate the thesis. I will argue, however, that there is a plausible formulation for the normativity of logic thesis such that survives Harman’s attacks. In the last step, I will explain the normativity of logic thesis, on the basis of the concept of belief. In order to do so, I will elucidate the normativity of belief thesis, and then argue that the thesis entails the normativity of logic thesis.
