عقلانیت هدف-وسیله، چارچوبی برای عقلانیت علم

مسئله عقلانیت علم، نیازمند بستری برای طرح چیستی عقلانیت است تا در چهارچوب مفهومی از عقلانیت، بتوان چگونگی عقلانیت ماجرای علم را به تصویر کشید. نگارنده در این مقاله تلاش می‌کند تا با استفاده از مفهوم عقلانیت هدف وسیله نشان دهد که چگونه می‌توان چنین بستری را فراهم آورد. برای این کار می‌بایست علم را به‌ عنوان یک فرایند در نظر بگیریم که در آن با مفروض گرفتن اهدافی، می‌توان عقلانیت دست‌یابی به این اهداف را به‌ واسطه مفهوم عقلانیت هدف وسیله توجیه کرد. عقلانیت هدف وسیله نیز به‌ نوبه خود قابل ‌تقسیم به دو گونه عقلانیت ابزاری و کل‌گرایانه است و ما نشان می‌دهیم که برگرفتن مفهوم عقلانیت کل‌‌گرایانه برای داشتن یک مدل عقلانیت کارآمد برای علم ضروری است. در ادامه و به منظور ارائه یک نمونه پیاده‌سازی برای چهارچوب ارائه‌شده، مدل‌های عقلانیت علم لری لاودن را با استفاده از چهارچوب مفهومی عقلانیت ابزاری و کل‌گرایانه مورد بازسازی قرار می‌دهیم تا توانایی مفهومی عقلانیت هدف وسیله و نیز رشد و ترقی مدل‌های مذکور در گذر از گونه‌های این نوع عقلانیت را نشان دهیم.

MeansEnds Rationality, a Framework for Rationality of Science; a Review of Laudan’s Theories of Scientific Rationality

The problem of the rationality of science needs a framework to outline what rationality is and how it can be placed in scientific adventure. In this paper, I will try to show how we can provide such a (metalevel) framework using the notion of meansends rationality. For doing so, we have to see science as a process in which there are given aims, and the rationality of achieving such aims could be justified in the light of the notion of meansends rationality. This notion also is divided into two forms: instrumental rationality and holistic rationality. Here it will become clear that choosing a holistic notion of rationality is essential for having a sustainable account of scientific rationality.  In the meantime, to propose a concrete example of the implementation of this framework, I do reconstruct Laudan’s models of scientific rationality using the conceptual frameworks of instrumental and holistic rationality. This will illustrate how his models grow through these two notions of rationality, and also how much the conceptual framework of meansends rationality is capable to explain it.
