Abstract
|
objective: obsessive-compulsive disorder (ocd) is often accompanied by significant impairments in physical well-being and emotional regulation. schema therapy has emerged as a promising intervention targeting core maladaptive beliefs and emotional processes. this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of schema therapy on health promotion and enhancement of positive metaemotions among women with ocd in isfahan.research methodology: a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest and control group was employed. the population included all women referred to psychological counseling centers in isfahan (2023–2024). a total of 20 womendiagnosed with ocd (based on dsm-5 criteria and clinical interview) were selected through convenience sampling. due to practical constraints, random assignment was not feasible. participants were allocated into a schema therapygroup (n = 10) and a waitlist control group (n = 10). measures included the goldberg health questionnaire (1972), beer & montea's positive meta-emotion scale (2010), and young schema questionnaire (1994). data were analyzed using structural equation modeling in spss-26 and r-4.2.findings: schema therapy led to significant improvements in physical health indicators, such as somatic symptoms and physical functioning, as well as psychological outcomes including increased positive emotions, enhanced emotional regulation (e.g., thought suppression and emotional shifts), and reduced anxiety and depression.conclusion: schema therapy can be considered an effective approach for improving both physical and emotional well-being in women suffering from ocd. the findings support its application in clinical settings targeting complexemotional disorders.
