Letter to editor: human immunodeficiency virus (hiv) patients continue to be at high risk of acquiring bacterial bloodstream infections (bsis) despite antiretroviral treatment.[1] clinical utility of high‑class antibiotics, especially the third‑generation cephalosporins and carbapenems as treatment options, drives the emergence of multidrug‑resistant (mdr) bacteria.
