Proportion of elementary school pupils' anthropometric characteristics with dimensions of classroom furniture in Isfahan, Iran

Background: this study is aimed to examine the appropriacy of school furniture to iranian pupils' anthropometric features. methods: the participants in this cross-sectional study were 493 boys and 489 girls with the age-range of 7 to 12 years who were selected through a multistage random cluster sampling procedure. age, weight, height, and anthropometric dimensions were determined. results: this study indicates that there is a significant difference between the minimum and maximum acceptable dimensions and those of the available furniture (p < 0.001). conclusions: in designing suitable furniture for pupils the anthropometric differences of age and gender must be taken into account.
