In traditional seismic analysis of gravity dams, the seismic wave adopts the vertical incidence method. the near-field earthquake is mainly an oblique incidence, according to the location of the source, the incident direction of seismic wave can be divided into upstream to downstream and downstream to upstream. based on the viscoelastic artificial boundary theory, this study deduces the method of oblique incidence of sv wave on the homogeneous plane of two-dimensional half space, and the inclined input of near-site vibration is realized through fortran programming. based on a gravity dam project, this study establishes the overall damage mechanics model of the dam body and the foundation, and studies the nonlinear dynamic response of the dam under the action of different sv wave incident angles and directions. the research results show that the damage area of the dam is obviously related to the incident direction of sv wave, that is, when the source is located upstream, the upstream surface of the dam is prone to damage and damage at a certain incident angle, and vice versa. different from the damage law of dam body, the damage degree of dam foundation generally increases with the increase of sv incident angle
