The economic impact of constructing a Gaza seaport: Evidence from a computable general equilibrium model

The role of infrastructure as a catalyst of economic development is accepted. among the different types of transport infrastructure,seaports are considered as especially strategic due to the increasing importance of maritime transport in deciding transport costs and international trade in the age of globalization. we analyze the economic impacts of constructing a gaza seaport. we use a computable general equilibrium model of the palestinian economy to simulate the effects on the palestinian economy brought about by the planned construction of a gaza seaport. according to the models estimates,gdp will increase by 3.90 percent,household income by 3.11 percent,private consumption by 7.73 percent,imports by 12.93 percent,and exports by 27.42 percent and labor income will increase by 3.19 percent. © 2016,statistical economic and social research and.
