   Removal of PAHs from n-Paraffin by Modified Clinoptilolite

چکیده    The ability of natural clinoptilolite and its modifiedforms were studied for removalofpahs from n-paraffin. surfactant modified zeolite (smz) was obtained by modifying clinoptilolitewith hexadecyltrimethylammonium ion. homoionic forms ofzeolite were obtained by ion exchangeprocess using inorganic salts ofdesirable cations (e.g. ag+, fe3+ .• .). natural clinoptilolite and itscation exchanged forms show small affinity toward pahs, due to their hydrophil nature, whereassa4z removed more than 50 percent of the initial pahs contents of n-parafjin. the structure ofzeolite did not change upon modification. regeneration of zeolite was performed efficiently withchloroform.
