|
A pure silicate host namely sr2mgsi207 as a support for a long-lasting afterglowwhen dopped with rare-earth elements was sought after. to this end the process ofobtainingfiringtemperatures of the above mentioned phase in normal condition was carried out using suggestedwet and dry methods. the degree ofpurity obtained in these preparatory methods as well as thedifferent firing temperatures were studied by the aid ofsemandxrd techniques. it was found thatfor the wet method there exists a temperature beyond which the amount of impurity remainedconstant. there also existed a temperature at which both the wet and dry methods gave the sameamount ofimpurity. beyond this temperature the wet method would be preferred.
