چکیده

Nowadays, there is a growing need for developing novel approaches to actively shorten the wound-healing process, given its significant financial impact worldwide. hence, advanced wound dressings, including hydrogels, hydro-films and, etc., have gained considerable attention. in this way, the current study aimed to assess the wound healing effect of a hydro-film dressing composed of egg white as a natural and low-cost material and carbomer-940. the dressings were fabricated via the solvent casting method and applied to a full-thickness wound of wistar rats. the healing ability of dressing was evaluated during 14 days by determining wound size, and pathological features including inflammation, and angiogenesis rate in wounded skin samples. results have shown that the wound sizes of groups that were treated with egg white-based scaffold (s1) and egg white/carbomer-940-based scaffold (s2) were significantly smaller than the control group after days 10 and 14. furthermore, the s2 group showed a better closure rate than the s1 and carbomer groups. also, the angiogenesis rate of s1 and especially s2 groups was significantly higher on day 3 in comparison with the control group. the inflammation score of the s2 group was lower in comparison with the control group on day 3. in sum, egg white/carbomer-940 and egg white-based scaffold efficiently augmented the healing process of excisional wounds. however, the egg white/carbomer-940 group seems to be more effective in wound healing than the egg-based scaffold. hence, it is suggested as a good investigational option for future clinical studies.
