Identification of Hepatopancreatic Parvo-like Virus (HPV) in Cultured P. semisulcetus from the Islamic Republic of IRAN

Abstract: during the per iod from augu st 1997 to march 1998, two thou sandsamples of cultured penaeus semisulcatus post larv ae and sub adults wer e co llectedfrom five hatcheries and 20 growo ut farm s distributed in three pro vin ces a lo ng theco s ts of persian gul f and the oman sea. based on g rowt h sig ns, lm and temhistopathology , hepatop ancreatic parvo-like virus (hpv) wer e identifi ed from thesamples. th e hpv parti cles most ofte n appeared in s phe rical, but occa sio na lly inang ular forms . the pa rticles in hepatop ancreatocyt e sections, ave raged 22- 24nm indiameter.
