Introduction: bangladesh stands fourth in freshwater fish farming throughout the world (fao, 2016). aquaculture contributes more than fifty five percent of the national fish production, thus plays an essential role for the socio economic development of the bangladesh through creating employment opportunities, alleviation of poverty and to supply protein for the growing population. indian major carp contributes highest (19.36%) in the national fish production. however, substantial proportion of fish production comes from minor carp species annually (frss, 2017).
