تحلیل انتقادی ترجمۀ انگلیسی قرآن محمد اسد‏

ترجمۀ پیام قرآن اثر محمد اسد، ترجمه‌ای کامل از تمام سوره‌های قرآن و به ترتیب مصحف است. پرسش مهم قابل طرح دربارۀ این ترجمه این است که ترجمۀ پیام قرآن به لحاظ میزان وفاداری به متن چه وضعیتی دارد. نوشتۀ حاضر کوشیده است با روش توصیفی-تحلیلی و بررسی نمونه‌هایی از عملکرد محمد اسد در ترجمۀ آیات و تطبیق آن‌ها بر الگوی ترجمۀ نیومارک، به پاسخی قانع‌کننده در این راستا دست یابد. نتیجه آنکه مترجم همواره در ترجمۀ خود سعی بر یافتن معادل مناسب برای اصطلاحات دینی داشته و تا حد زیادی در این امر موفق بوده و در مواردی که از یافتن معادل عاجز مانده است، توضیحاتی را در حاشیه ارائه می‌دهد. در بحث از مشترک لفظی، عموماً سیاق کلام را در نظر دارد، اما در برخی موارد از سیاق غافل شده است. همچنین، برای ترجمۀ استعاره، عملکرد یکسانی نداشته و از شیوه‌های گوناگونی بهره برده است.

critical analysis of muhammad asad’s english translation of the qur’an

“the message of the quran’” by muhammad asad is a complete translation of all the suras of the quran in accordance with the mushaf order. an important issue related to this translation is its status in terms of textual fidelity. using examples of asad’s performance in translating verses and fitting them to newmark’s translation model, this article attempts to answer this question convincingly. it concludes that the translator attempted to find appropriate equivalents for religious terms in his translation, and was largely successful. in cases where he could not find an equivalent, explanations were added in the margins. in discussing verbal commonalities, he generally considered the context of the word, although in some cases he did not. he also did not follow the same pattern in translating metaphors, but used different methods.
