investigating the use of paratactic and hypotactic conjunctions among iranian preuniversity students

In an attempt to dispel the persisting fallacy that an individual’s grammar knowledge is indicative of the way they put this knowledge into practice, this study seeks to highlight the inconsistency which resides between one’s competence and performance in the domain of conjunctions. it aims to shed light on the discrepancy which lies between the knowledge and production of conjunctions. the research context was an iranian high school in tabriz and the participants included 40 preuniversity students whose knowledge of conjunctions was checked once by analyzing the results of a grammar test of conjunctions and once more through the administration of a sentence-combining test of conjunctions. eventually, the obtained results were juxtaposed for consistency comparison, the ultimate outcome of which suggest that an individual’s demonstrable knowledge of conjunctions in a grammar test cannot be necessarily generalized to the proportional use of them; hence, a set of correct responses given to the questions of a grammar test of conjunctions is not necessarily a valid indicator of their actual use or production. overall, it is concluded that the participants tend to choose paratactic extending conjunctions over hypotactic ones and hypotactic enhancing conjunctions over paratactic ones despite their adequate knowledge of both.

بررسی کاربرد حروف ربط موازی و غیرموازی توسط دانش‌آموزان مقطع پیش‌دانشگاهی در ایران

در تلاشی برای رد این استدلال غلط  که دانش گرامری فرد نشانگر نحوه کاربرد این دانش می‌باشد تحقیق حاضر به روشن کردن تناقض بین دانش و عملکرد فرد در حوضه حروف اضافه می‌پردازد. این مطالعه با هدف برجسته ساختن ناهماهنگی بین دانش گرامری فرد از حروف ربط و نحوه کاربرد آن‌ها انجام پذیرفته است. شرکت کنندگان دراین تحقیق 40 دانش‌آموز مقطع پیش‌دانشگاهی دبیرستان مشکات تبریز می‌باشند. برای دست‌یابی به اهداف این تحقیق دانش حرف ربط این دانش‌آموزان یکبار توسط آزمون چهارجوابی حروف ربط و بار دیگر توسط آزمون دیگری که در آن دانش‌آموزان ملزم به وصل دو جمله مستقل توسط حروف ربط مناسب می‌باشند سنجیده شد. نتایج این تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که دانش فرد از حروف ربط الزاماً قابل‌عمومیت دادن به نحوه کاربرد آن‌ها نمی‌باشد. به عبارت دیگر حروف ربط انتخاب‌شده از بین گزینه‌های آزمون چهارجوابی و حروف ربط استفاده‌شده برای وصل کردن جملات مستقل در آزمون دوم الزاماً در تناسب کامل نبوده و شرکت کنندکان استفاده از حروف ربط موازی تفصیلی را به حروف ربط غیرموازی تفصیلی و حروف ربط غیرموازی زمینه‌ای را به حروف ربط موازی زمینه‌ای ترجیح می‌دهند.
