چرا برخی پیشنهادها هنوز نتوانسته‌اند مثال‌های نقض گتیه(وار) را برطرف کنند؟

بسیاری از معرفت‌شناسان اذعان دارند که اهمیت مثال‌های نقض گتیه در آشکارسازی معضلی است که هنگام تحلیل مفهومی معرفت با آن مواجه می‌شویم. آنان معتقدند ریشه این ‌معضل به نحوۀ ارزیابی‌مان از شهودهای متعارفی برمی‌گردد که برای تحلیل مفهومی به‌کار می‌آیند. در این ‌مقاله، به واکاوی شهودهای متعارفی می‌پردازیم که، بیش از طبیعت معرفت، ناظر به مشخصۀ اسنادیِ معرفت در زبان روزمره‌اند و ظاهراً به ‌کمکشان می‌توان راهی برای برطرف‌کردن مثال‌های نقض گتیه و موارد مشابهی یافت که امروزه به مثال‌های نقض گتیه‌وار مشهورند. مقاله شامل دو بخش اصلی است. نخست، به‌ سراغ سه پیشنهاد خواهیم رفت که، به‌ترتیب، منجر به حذف شرط توجیه، صدق و باور می‌شوند. زیرا به نظر می‌رسد حذف یکی از شروط سنتی معرفت می‌تواند تحلیل مفهومی معرفت را از گزند مثال‌های نقض گتیه(وار) مصون نگه‌دارد. در بخش دوم، نشان خواهیم داد که چرا این ‌سه پیشنهاد و موارد مشابه هنوز نتوانسته‌اند مثال‌های نقض گتیه(وار) را برطرف کنند. از نظر ما، سه ایراد عمده بر آنها وارد است: (1) همۀ مصادیق معرفت را شامل نمی‌شوند؛ (2) برخی استدلال‌های به‌کاررفته در آنها منتج نیست؛ (3) یا متضمن سوءفهم‌هایی دربارۀ طبیعت زبان روزمره و عملکرد واژگان در آن‌اند یا، به‌لحاظِ روشی، دارای تکیه‌گاه و تبعاتی مناقشه‌برانگیزند. باآنکه دامنۀ نفوذ ایرادهای (1) و (2) به پیشنهادهای طرح‌شده در این ‌مقاله محدود است، ولی معتقدیم ایراد (3) می‌تواند پا را فراتر نهد و حتی شامل پیشنهادهایی شود که این ‌بار با تکیه بر شهودهای متعارفمان دربارۀ طبیعت معرفت قصد دارند راهی برای برطرف‌کردن مثال‌های نقض گتیه(وار) بگشایند.

Clarifying why some proposals have not yet been able to remove Gettier (Gettiertype) counterexamples

Many epis‌temologis‌ts acknowledge that the importance of Gettier’s counterexamples is in revealing the problem we encounter when analyzing the concept of knowledge. As they assert, the root of the problem lies in the way we evaluate our intuitions used for conceptual analysis. We, here, are to look into those intuitions which, more than the nature of knowledge, are related to knowledge attribution in ordinary language. It seems likely that they help us find out a way to remove Gettier’s counterexamples or other similar cases known today as Gettiertype counterexamples. The article consis‌ts of two main parts. Firs‌t, we will explain three proposals that result in taking away the condition of jus‌tification, truth and belief, respectively. Taking away one of the traditional conditions of knowledge can be a possibe way to protect the conceptual analysis of knowledge from Gettier (Gettiertype) counterexamples. In the second part, we will clarify why these three proposals, and similar ones, have not yet been able to remove Gettier (Gettiertype) counterexamples. We believe that they have three main flaws. (1) Not all possible cases of knowledge are covered. (2) Some arguments are not conclusive. (3) They either involve some misunders‌tandings about the nature of ordinary language and the way its words work, or, from a methodological viewpoint, are illfounded and have controversial consequences. Although the firs‌t and second flaws are limited to those proposals criticized in this article, we believe that the third one can go even further and include those proposals that pave the way to remove Gettier (Gettiertype) counterexamples by relying on our intuitions about the nature of knowledge.
