تاثیر واحد درسی سلامت دهان و دخانیات بر دانش و نگرش دانشجویان در مورد نقش دندانپزشک در کنترل دخانیات

سابقه و هدف: هدف از این مطالعه بررسی تاثیر یک مداخله آموزشی در قالب واحد درسی سلامت دهان و دخانیات بر دانش و نگرش دانشجویان دندانپزشکی در زمینه عوارض دخانیات و نقش دندانپزشک در برنامه های ترک دخانیات می باشد.مواد و روش ها: مطالعه حاضر به صورت مداخله نیمه تجربی روی 62 دانشجوی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی اصفهان در گروه کنترل و 63 دانشجوی دانشگاه آزاد اصفهان در گروه مداخله، صورت گرفت. پرسشنامه ای در رابطه با دانش و نگرش آنان از کلیه افراد داوطلب جمع آوری شد. سپس مداخله آموزشی در طول یک ترم تحصیلی صورت گرفت. داده ها توسط paired sample ttest،independent sample ttest ، chi square، fisher exact test مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.یافته ها: میانگین نمره دانش دانشجویان قبل از مداخله بین دو گروه اختلاف معنادار نداشت (0.46=p)، اما بعد از مداخله، در گروه مداخله بیشتر بود (p<0.001). میانگین نمره نگرش دانشجویان قبل از مداخله بین دو گروه اختلاف معنادار نداشت (0.93=p)، اما بعد از مداخله، در گروه مداخله بیشتر بود (p<0.001). میانگین نمره نگرش دانشجویان هم در گروه مداخله و هم در گروه کنترل بعد از مداخله بیشتر از قبل مداخله بود (p<0.001). به دنبال مداخله، میانگین تغییرات نمره دانش و نگرش دانشجویان در گروه مداخله بیشتر از گروه کنترل بود (p<0.001).نتیجه گیری: واحد درسی سلامت دهان و دخانیات باعث افزایش دانش و نگرش دانشجویان در مورد برنامه های ترک دخانیات شد. هرچند عملکرد دانشجویان مورد سنجش قرار نگرفت ولی به نظر می رسد بتوان با آموزش، در جهت ارتقا توانایی های دانشجویان نیز نتایج قابل قبولی به دست آورد.

The Effect of the Course of “Smoking and Oral Health” on Knowledge and Attitude of Students Regarding Dentist’s Role in Smoking Cessation Programs

Abstract BACKGROUND AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of an educational intervention course of smoking and oral health on knowledge and attitude of dental students about the complications of smoking and the role of the dentist in smoking cessation.Material Methods: A quasiexperimental study was conducted on 62 dental students from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences as control group, and 63 dental students from Isfahan Azad University as experimental group. Volunteer students filled out a selfadministered questionnaire about their knowledge and attitude regarding dentist rsquo;s role in smoking cessation. During the ongoing semester, educational intervention was conducted. Then, the students filled out the questionnaires again. Paired sample ttest، Independent sample ttest ، Chi square، and Fisher exact test served for statistical analysis.Results: Before the intervention, no significant difference existed between two groups regarding their knowledge score (P=0.46). Following the intervention however, knowledge score in intervention group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.001). Students' attitude was not significantly different between two groups before the intervention (P=0.93). Following the intervention, attitude score was significantly higher in intervention group than control group (P<0.001). Following the intervention, the mean scores of attitude increased significantly in both groups (P<0.001). However, the increased score of knowledge and attitude in intervention group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.001).Conclusion: Course of ldquo;Smoking and Oral Health rdquo; improved students rsquo; knowledge and attitudes towards smoking cessation. Although, students rsquo; performance was not evaluated, it seems that educational programs may improve their performance as well.
