بررسی نام و لقب فرایین/شهربراز در شاهنامه و دیگر منابع تاریخی

در بخش ساسانیان شاهنامۀ فردوسی از شخصیت­های تاریخیِ بسیاری نام برده شده که در دیگر منابع با ریخت­های گوناگون و گاه تحریف­شده ثبت شده­اند یا القاب و عنوان­های رسمیِ آنان به جای نامِ آن­ها نشسته است. گاه میزان تفاوت­ بسیار بوده است و می­تواند پژوهش­گر را در ریشه­شناسی، یافتن معنای نام و تبارشناسی آن شخصیت گم­راه کند و به خطاهای بزرگ­تر علمی بیانجامد. برخی نام­/لقب­های به­کار رفته در شاهنامه یگانه است و در دیگر منابع دیده نمی­شود. نام/لقب شهربراز در هیچ یک از منابع تاریخی «فرایین» نیست و این نام/لقب تنها در شاهنامه ثبت شده است. این جستار به ریشه­شناسی و سنجش این نام/لقب­ها در منابع گوناگون می­پردازد و برای این کار، این شخصیت و نام، عناوین و القاب او در منابع کهن پهلوی، فارسی، عربی، سریانی، ارمنی و یونانی ردیابی، واکاوی و سنجش شده و دربارۀ چراییِ ثبت «فرایین» از سوی فردوسی و میزان درستی یا تحریف آن و نقش فردوسی، منبع او، کاتبان و ویراستان در این تغییرات بحث شده است. «گراز» و «فرایین» در شاهنامه یک شخص هستند و هر دوی این نام­ها در منبع شاهنامه وجود داشته و فردوسی هر دو را  با کمی تغییر به کار برده است.

The investigation of name and title of Farayin/Shahrbaraz in Shahnameh and other historical sources  *Zagros ZandAncient Persian History, History Department, Faculty of humanities, Imam Khomeni International University, Qazvin, Iran Date of reception: 97/10/11Date of acceptance: 98/6/6AbstractIn Sassanid section of Shahnameh Ferdowsi names of many historical characters are mentioned, yet they are otherwise recorded and at times appear somewhat altered in other sources, or rather their epithets and formal titles sit in place of their names.  Sometimes this difference is so large that could mislead a researcher in arriving at the true etymology, meaning of the name and genealogy of the character and hence lead to greater scientific fallacies.  Certain names or epithets employed in Shahnameh are unique and are not seen in other sources.  Farayin, name or epithet of Shahrbaraz is mentioned in none of the historical sources but Shahnameh.  This research deals with the etymology and examination of this name or epithet in different ancient sources such as Pahlavi, Farsi, Arabic, Aramaic, Syriac and Greek ones. The reason why Ferdowsi had selected and recorded Farayin and whether or not this name is true, also Ferdowsi’s role, his source, his scribers and editors and their possible role in alteration of the name are further discussed.  Goraz and Farayin, being one person exist in Shahnameh and Ferdowsi had used the two with slight modification.* . zagros.zand@gmail.com
