بنجیدن مصدری کهن و متروک در شاهنامه

  در داستان بهرام گور و لنبک آب­کش پس از این­که لنبک به پذیرایی از بهرام می­ایستد بیتی است که بر اساس آن:  برید آن­که لنبک بدو داد شاه    ببنچید/ ببخشید/ بپیچید/ بخندید و بنهاد بر پیش­گاه  با توجّه به ضبط نسخه­های شاهنامه و یکی­دو قرینۀ دیگر، احتمالاً صورت درستِ فعلِ مصراعِ دوم «ببَنجید» است. این فعل از مصدر «بَنجیدن» به معنای «تقسیم کردن، بریدن و خُرد کردن» است و مادّۀ مضارعی که برای ساختن این مصدر جعلی/ ثانوی به کار رفته است، شاید مادّۀ مضارعِ دومِ مصدرِ «بَختَنِ» پهلوی باشد. با این احتمال «بَنج» از ریشۀ *baj به معنای «تقسیم کردن و بخشش» است و معنی بیت با تصحیحِ قیاسیِ «ببنجید» چنین خواهد بود: بهرام غذایی را که لنبک به او داد به دو یا چند بخش تقسیم کرد و روی میز نهاد.

The present mode stem used to make this false or secondary infinitive may be the second present mode stem of the infinitive “Bakhtan” in Pahlavi in which case banj is taken from the root baj which means to divide and to give so that the meaning of the couplet considering the deductive edition will be as follows:  Bahram divided the food Lonbak offered him into two or three parts and put them of the table.* . aydenloo@gmail.com
