اخلاق اطلاعات جهانی: نقد و بررسی دیدگاه چارلز اس

فناوری اطلاعات روابط میان انسان‌ها در سراسر دنیا را ممکن ساخته است. ازاین‌رو، نظریه‌پردازان اخلاقِ اطلاعات، مانند ‏چارلز اِس، تلاش می‌کنند تا یک نظریۀ اخلاقی جهانی ارائه دهند. چارلز اس معتقد است این نظریه جهانی در ساحت فرا ‏اخلاق به نوعی پلورالیسم، به نام پلورالیسم تفسیری، و در ساحت هنجاری به اخلاق مراقبت، فضیلت و کنفسیوس نیاز دارد. ‏مقالۀ حاضر، با روش کتابخانه ای و تحلیل مفهومی، قصد دارد ضمن معرفیِ دیدگاه چارلز اس، برخی از مهم‌ترین ‏شکاف‌های نظری در پروژۀ او را نشان ‌دهد. پلورالیسم تفسیریِ او مشکلِ نسبی‌گرایی در رابطه با داوری دربارۀ دیگری را ‏حل نمی‌کند. همچنین، دلایل اِس در دفاع از پلورالیسم تفسیری مبتنی بر دو فرض نادرست است. اول اینکه او فرض کرده ‏است تفاوت‌های فرهنگی لزوماً تفاوت‌های اخلاقی را نتیجه می‌دهد؛ ثانیاً او استدلال می‌کند پلورالیسم نظریۀ پذیرفته‌ای در ‏همۀ سنت‌های اخلاقی جهان است. در ساحت هنجاری نیز دفاع اس از نظریه‌های اخلاقِ مراقبت، فضیلت و کنفسیوس، در ‏مقابلِ پیامد گرایی و وظیفه گرایی، موجه نیست. چالش های مذکور کل پروژۀ اس را کنار نمی گذارد؛ بلکه مسیرهای آتی ‏پژوهش را، جهت تقویت آن، روشن می‌نماید.‏

Global Information Ethics: Analysis and Critique of Charles Ess View

Information technology makes possible the relationship between people around the ‎world. Hence, the information ethics theorists, such as Charles Ess, are trying to ‎propose a global ethical theory. Ess believes that this global theory in the field of ‎metaethics requires some kind of pluralism, in the name of interpretive pluralism, ‎and in the normative field of care ethics, virtue ethics and confucian ethics. This ‎paper, by using library research method and conceptual analysis, while introducing the view of Charles Ess, illustrates some of the most ‎important theoretical gaps in his project. His interpretive pluralism does not solve ‎the problem of relativism in relation to ethical judgment about “the other”. Also, his ‎defense of interpretive pluralism based on two incorrect assumptions. First, he has ‎supposed that cultural differences necessarily entail ethical differences; secondly, ‎he argues that pluralism is an accepted theory in all ethical approaches of the world. ‎In the normative field, the defense of the ethics of care, virtue and Confucius, in ‎contrast to consequentialism and deontologism, is not justified. The critiques do not ‎falsify the whole project, proposing a global information ethics; these clarify the ‎future paths of research to strengthen it.‎
