خانواده نهادی اجتماعی با کارکردها و آثار بسیار است که هم تاثیرگذار و هم تاثیرپذیر از نهاد های دیگر اجتماعی است. نظام مطلوب خانواده در اسلام، با محوریت زن و مرد شکل می گیرد و از هر روش صحیحی، که به استحکام روابط زوجین بیانجامد، استقبال می کند؛ عرفان عملی و سلوک معنوی از جمله این روش هاست. در عرفان عملی، سالک می کوشد که همه امور خود را در ارتباط با خدا تفسیر نماید و او را در زندگی خود ناظر و حاضر ببیند. سالک با استفاده از عرفان عملی، آنچه باید به آن عمل کند را درمی یابد و در راه رسیدن به شهود و حقیقت وجود حرکت می کند. داشتن این حالات برای سالک به معنای دوری از اجتماع نیست. در عرفان اسلامی، عرفا در سلوک معنوی، در اوج بی اعتنایی به دنیا، همچون مردمان دیگر زیست می کنند و از ثمره زندگی اجتماعی برای تقویت جنبه سلوکی و از دریافت های عارفانه خود، برای زندگی اجتماعی شان بهره می برند. از این روست که تشکیل خانواده و روابط صحیح میان زوجین همواره در سیره پیامبر(ص) و ائمه اطهار (علیهم السّلام)  مورد توجه بوده است و نویسنده در این مقاله بر آن است تا به این سوال پاسخ دهد که  سلوک معنوی و عرفان عملی چه نقشی در تحکیم روابط زوجین دارد
