derivational structures of words in the sistani dialect habibollah mashhadi received: 2011.06.06accepted: 2012.11.05mohammad doosti abstract this study aims at investigating and describing the derivational structure of words in the sistani dialect. in this regard, a number of local speakers in five rural zones of zabol city and speakers from zabol, zehak, hirmand, adimi and mohammadabad were selected. the selected speakers were either illiterate or poorly literate. numerous words and phrases of sistani dialect were recorded and analyzed. subsequently, the derivational structure of words was discussed in terms of prefixes, suffixes and compound structures. specific prefixes and suffixes and different compounding methods are among the exclusive features of sistani dialect compared to standard persian. keywords: derivational structure, sistani dialect, compound structure, prefixes and suffixes
