Study of Melatonin level and some biochemical parameters in women with Thyroid disorders

This research was designed in order to estimate the effects of thyroid dysfunctions on the concentration of melatonin hormone and the concentration of uric acid in a number of women suffered from thyroid dysfunctions, by which (55) blood samples was collected from external laboratories in tikrit and samarra´a cities. the samples are divided into three groups: first group (21) samples of blood from women diagnosed with hyperthyroidism significant increase in thyroid hormones tri-iodothyronine (t3) and thyroxin (t4). second group: (16) blood samples from women diagnosed with hypothyroidism significant decrease in thyroid hormones tri-iodothyronine (t3) and thyroxin (t4). third group: (18) blood samples from normal healthy women as control group. the study shows a significant increase at level (p≤ 0.05) of thyroid hormones (t3) and (t4), uric acid concentration of women diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in comparison with the control group. significant decrease at level (p≤ 0.05) of melatonin in the hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism groups compared with the control group. also the study shows no significant difference at level (p≤ 0.05) of uric acid level of women diagnosed with hypothyroidism in comparison with the control group.
