|
New chromophores of the donor-conjugated-acceptor typescontaining 4-n,n-dimethylaminobenzene as the donor-conjugatedgroup are prepared with different types of acceptors. the electronicspectra were investigated in ethanol and acetonitrile to assess theeffect of solvatochromic properties of these new dyes. the relativestrength of the acceptor in producing large bathochromic shift wasillustrated. tricyanovinyl is the best acceptor used in this study toproduce a larger bathochromic shift of the visible absorption, where asthe least acceptor used is diethyl malonate
