SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERISATION AND BIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF NICKEL (II) COMPLEXES WITH TEREPHTHALIC ACID HYDRAZONES

Some nickel(ii) complexes have been synthesized by reacting nickel(ii) chloride with hydrazones derivedfrom terephthalic acid hydrazide and substituted salicylaldehyde in ethanolic medium. the complexeshave been characterized on the basis of analytical and magnetic data. the bonding between metal andligand has been inferred from spectral data. these ni(ii) complexes also characterized by thermoanlyticaldata. the synthesized ni(ii) complexes have been evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. the complexes have the stoichiometry of the type ni.l.2h2o.the analytical, magnetic and spectral data taken together, it is suggested that, all the ni(ii) complexesexhibit coordination number six.
