PARTIAL PURIFICATION OF PARAOXONASE FROM LIVER CAMEL

Paraoxonase is an ester hydrolase enzyme present in serum and liver that catalyses the hydrolysis of some xenobiotics inside the cell to guard against its harmful effects. paraoxonase was purified from camel liver through ammonium sulphate (60%) precipitation, chromatography on deae-sepharose and gel filtrationon a sepharose 6b in order to purify the paraoxonase enzyme. a partially purified preparation of camelliver paraoxonase showing specific activity of 1327 mu/mg protein. the molecular weight of the enzyme was 69,000 as detected by gel filtration and sds-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
