Electrolysis Hair Removal: A 14 Years Experience at King Fahd Hospital of the University, Al-Khobar

Objectives: to review a long-established but currently rarely used procedure for permanent hair removal, and document the effectiveness and safety of the procedure. method: over a 14- year period, l19 patients (all but one female) participated in this study. electrolysis was performed using a blend machine delivering a combination of thermolytic and galvanic currents. a topical anesthetic cream was used when and where indicated. results: effective successful epilation was achieved in 93% of patients after varying periods of time and sessions of treatment. scarring and pigmentary changes were not encountered. conclusion: electrolysis, in the hands of skilled licensed operators is a safe procedure and highly successful for permanent removal of unwanted hair.
