4 /abstracts“happiness” in iranian hikmat and its influence on islamic iranparvane orujnia1assistant professor, department of mysticism, encyclopediaislamica foundation, tehran, iranhikmat (iranian ancient wisdom), which mostly appears in gahan- theprimary collection of sacred songs of zoroastrianism- leaves traces insome of andarz-nameh-a kind of literature containing advice andorders for gaining right behavior- has unique characteristics. the mostimportant feature of this wisdom is a kind of intellectualism whichsubjectively leads to inner happiness, and man's quest for a joyful andpeaceful life in this world (giti) as well as in the other one (minoo),and objectively brings about truthfulness, beneficence, goodreputation, and in all prosperity in the world. traces of this worldlywisdom have, to some extent, remained in the works of some writersand poets until the 5th century. the present article tries to describe theprinciples of this intellectualism in iranian ancient wisdom and itsrelation to happiness, its consequences and impact on iranian culturein islamic era.keywords: happiness, iranian hikmat, wisdom, truthfulness,beneficence, flourishing of the world.1. email: p.orujnia@gmail.com
