صادرات فرش ایران به آمریکا در دوره قاجاریه؛ زمینه‌ها و چالش‌ها

ادغام اقتصاد ایرانِ قاجاری در اقتصاد جهانی باعث شد تا تجارت خارجی به ویژه صادرات صنایع دستی همچون فرش رشد چشمگیری پیدا کند. در چنین شرایطی آمریکا به عنوان یکی از مهم‌ترین کشورهای هدف، فرش صادراتی ایران در نظر گرفته شد، اما این صادرات با فراز و نشیب‌های همراه بود. مقاله حاضر با تکیه بر مطبوعات و اسناد منتشر نشده درصدد پاسخ گویی به این پرسش‌ است که چه عواملی حضور فرش ایرانی در بازار ایالات متحده را تسریع بخشید و چالش‌های پیش‌روی صادرات فرش چه بود؟ یافته‌های پژوهش حکایت از آن دارد که به دنبال بازتاب برگزاری نمایشگاه‌های تجاری و بازرگانی در مطبوعات دوره قاجاریه و تلاش‌های دیپلمات‌های ایرانی در واشنگتن، زمینه‌هایی در آمریکا و عواملی در ایران روند صادرات فرش ایرانی را سرعت بخشیدند. هر چند در برخی از مواقع به دلایلی چند وقفه کوتاهی در صادرات فرش به آمریکا به وجود آمد، اما این موانع با تلاش‌های دیپلمات‌ها برداشته شد.

Export of Iranian Carpets to the United States During the Qajar Period; Backgrounds and Challenges

The integration of Iranian economy into the world economy in the Qajar period caused foreign trade, especially handicrafts such as carpets, to grow significantly. In such circumstances, the United States was considered as one of the most important target countries for the export of Iranian carpets, but this export was accompanied by ups and downs. The present article, based on the press and unpublished documents, seeks to answer the question of what factors accelerated the trade of Iranian carpets in the US market and what were the challenges ahead? the findings of this study indicate that following the reflection of trade and commerce exhibitions in the Qajar period press and the efforts of Iranian diplomats in Washington, some backgrounds in the United States and some factors in Iran accelerated the process of exporting Iranian carpets. Although in some cases there were brief interruptions in carpet exports to the United States for some reason, these obstacles were removed through the efforts of diplomats.
