رئالیسم پس ‌از چرخش زبانی از منظر رورتی

بنا به نظر رورتی، چرخش زبانی انقلابی بود که می‌بایست منازعات رئالیستی و ضد ‌رئالیستی را منحل می‌کرد؛ اما رئالسیم با قدمتی به درازای تاریخ فلسفه از چنان نفوذی برخوردار بود که حتی فیلسوفان زبانی نظیر پوزیتویست‌های منطقی که موضع خود را علناً در برابر متافیزیک می‌دانستند، نتوانستند به‌ طور کامل از چنگ آن خلاصی یابند. این امر به ‌دلیل مبنا قرار گرفتن نظریۀ مطابقت صدق و روی دیگر این سکّه، یعنی نظریۀ بازنمایی در فلسفۀ زبان فیلسوفان تحلیلی بود. رورتی با تمسک به فیلسوفانی که این دو نظریۀ یادشده را به نفع وحدت سوژه‌ ‌ابژه کنار می‌گذارند، درصدد استدلال برای اولیّه بودن مفهوم صدق و نیز وابسته ‌بودن آن به خود زبان، نه چیز فرا‌زبانی، برمی‌آید؛ از این ‌رو، زمانی که صدق به خود زبان بازگشت، دیگر جایی برای واقعیتی خارج ‌از زبان نمی‌ماند که کاربر زبان برای دست‌یابی به حقیقت مجبور به بازنمایی آن باشد. در نهایت، هدف او این است که نشان دهد کاربر زبان همواره در تماس مستقیم با جهان خارج به ‌عنوان یکی از شرایط علّی ایجاد بازی‌های زبانی ما است و نه به‌ عنوان تبیین‌گر و توجیه‌کنندۀ گزاره‌های تکین زبان ما؛ بنابراین، رورتی با کنار گذاشتن مرزهای زبان و تمام دوگانه‌ها، فلسفۀ زبان خالصی را مجاز می‌داند که رئالیسم در آن محکوم به انحلال است.

according to rorty, the linguistic turn was a revolution that should dissolve the realist and anti-realist conflicts. still, realism has been so influential throughout the history of philosophy that even linguistic philosophers such as the logical positivists, who openly knew their position against metaphysics, could not fully get rid of it. this was due to the basis of the truth correspondence theory and the other side of this coin, the representation theory, in the philosophy of language of analytical philosophers. by insisting on the philosophers who abandoned these two mentioned theories in favor of subject-object unity, rorty argues that truth is a primitive concept and depends on language, not extra-linguistic things. therefore, when the truth returns to the language, there is no room for a reality beyond the language that the user must use to represent and achieve truth. finally, his goal is to show that the language user is always in direct contact with the outside world as one of the causal conditions for the creation of our language games and not as an explanation and justification of the propositions of our single language. therefore, rorty allows a pure philosophy of language by discarding the boundaries of language and all dualities, in which realism is doomed to dissolve.
