بازنگرش‌‌گرایی در باب مسئولیت اخلاقی

بازنگرش گرایی در باب مسئولیت اخلاقی می گوید میان فرضیۀ توصیفی در باب مسئولیت اخلاقی (آنگونه که می اندیشیم) و فرضیه تجویزی (آنگونه که باید بیاندیشیم) مغایرت وجود دارد. دیدگاهی بازنگرش گروانه به حساب می آید که معتقد باشد (1) فهم عامه از مسئولیت اخلاقی ناهمسازگرایانه است، (2) فهم ناهمسازگرایانه از مسئولیت اخلاقی درست نیست، و (3) باید در فهم عامه از مسئولیت اخلاقی بازنگری کرد. وارگاس مفهوم بازنگری شدۀ مسئولیت را نظام مسئولیت می نامد و معتقد است این مفهوم جدید همۀ کارکردهای مفهوم پیشین را دارد؛ به این معنا که قادر است توجیه تازه ای برای فعالیت های فردی و اجتماعی که بر مبنای مفهوم سنتی مسئولیت شکل داده ایم مثل سرزنش کردن، ستایش کردن، مجازات کردن و ... – فراهم کند. اما به نظر می رسد از آنجا که الگوی توجیه در نظام مسئولیت آینده نگرانه است، قادر به توجیه عدالت کیفری نیست. ضمن آنکه وارگاس باید بتواند از مفهوم بازنگری شدۀ مسئولیت در برابر استدلال مداخله های چهارگانه دفاع کند. در این مقاله نشان داده ایم که دفاعیه او موفق نیست.

Revisionism and Moral Resposibility

Revisionism about moral responsibility is the view that there is a difference between descriptive account – as we think and prescriptive account as we ought to think about moral responsibility. It is a Revisionist view to believe that (1) the folk intuitions of moral responsibility are incompatibilist, (2) the incompatibilist conception of moral responsibility is incorrect, and (3) the folk intuition of moral responsibility must be reconsidered. Vargas calls the revised concept of responsibility the responsibility system and believes that this new concept has all the functions of the previous concept; In other words, it can provide a new justification for individual and social activities that we have formed based on the traditional concept of responsibility such as blaming, praising, punishing, etc. But it seems that because the model of justification in the responsibility system is forwardlooking, it is not able to justify retributive justice. At the same time, Vargas must be able to defend the revised concept of responsibility against the fourcase manipulation argument. This defense is shown to be unsuccessful.
