رابطه متافیزیک و علوم شناختی: نقدی بر متافیزیک طبیعی‌شده آلوین گولدمن

علوم شناختی دانشی میان‌رشته‌ای است که به مطالعه چیستی ذهن و نحوه عملکرد آن می‌پردازد. در مقابل، دلمشغولی متافیزیک، مطالعه و کشف ساختارهای عینی واقعیت است. به غیر از «متافیزیک ذهن» که نقطه اشتراک این دو حوزه به شمار می‌آید، ارتباط چندانی میان آن‌ها متصور نیست. با اینحال، گولدمن فیلسوف معاصر معتقد است هر چند مطالعه ذهن تنها بخشی از متافیزیک به شمار می‌رود، اما در جریان هر تحقیق متافیزیکی نقش ایفا می‌کند. از نظر او، مطالعه ذهن بخشی از هر تحقیق متافیزیکی است، حتی آن دسته از تحقیقات متافیزیکی که پرسش از ذهن و حالات ذهنی هدف آن‌ها نیست. او پروژه‌اش را «متافیزیک طبیعی‌شده» می‌نامد و بر اساس آن، می‌کوشد نشان دهد که یافته‌های علوم شناختی، نقش اساسی در پذیرش یا رد یک نظریه متافیزیکی ایفا می‌کنند. هدف ما در این مقاله، تحلیل و بررسی رابطه متافیزیک و علوم شناختی بر مبنای متافیزیک طبیعی شده آلوین گولدمن است. بر این اساس، نشان خواهیم داد که هر چند یافته‌های علوم شناختی می‌توانند نقش قابل توجهی در متافیزیک ذهن و متافیزیک‌های مفهوم‌گرا داشته باشند، اما نقش آن‌ها در متافیزیک‌های واقع‌گرا محل تردید است. بعلاوه، نشان خواهیم داد که یافته‌های علوم شناختی به تنهایی و بدون بهره‌گیری از یک پیش‌زمینه متافیزیکی نمی‌توانند در داوری‌های متافیزیکی نقش‌آفرینی کنند.

The Relationship between Metaphysics and Cognitive Science: A Critique of the Naturalized Metaphysics of Alvin Goldman

Cognitive science is an interdisciplinary study what is the mind and how it works. By contrast, metaphysics concern is the study and discovery of objective structures of reality. Apart from the metaphysics of mind, which is the point of reference for these two domains, there is not much connection between them. The Naturalized Metaphysics project is a metaphysical approach in which contemporary philosopher, Alvin Goldman, seeks to show that the findings of cognitive science play an essential role in accepting or rejecting a metaphysical theory. In his view, although the study of the mind is only part of the metaphysics, it plays a role in any metaphysical inquiry. He believes that the study of the mind is part of any metaphysical inquiry, even those metaphysical investigations that are not a question of the mind and the mental state of their purpose. Our goal in this paper is to analyze the relationship between metaphysics and cognitive science based on Naturalized Metaphysics of Alvin Goldman. Accordingly, we will show that although cognitive science findings can play a significant role in the metaphysics of mind and conceptual metaphysics, their role in realistic metaphysics is doubtful. In addition, we will show that the findings of cognitive science alone can not play a role in metaphysical judgments without using a metaphysical background
