تحلیل و نقد فرضیۀ توانایی

فیزیکالیسم مدعی است تمام واقعیت‌های جهان، فیزیکی هستند. برهان معرفت، فیزیکالیسم را نمی‌پذیرد؛ زیرا معتقد است هنگام تجربۀ پدیده‌های جهان، معرفتی برای شخص حاصل می‌شود که از جنس دانش فیزیکی نیست. فرضیۀ توانایی عقیده دارد آنچه هنگام تجربه حاصل می‌شود از جنس دانش فیزیکی جدید نیست؛ بلکه به بروز توانایی‌های سه‌گانۀ تشخیص، تخیل و یادآوری در شخص منجر می‌شود؛ پس برهان معرفت ناکارآمد است. مسئلۀ پژوهش این است که آیا فرضیۀ توانایی به‌عنوان مدافع فیزیکالیسم راه‌حلی واقعی در مقابل برهان معرفت قلمداد می‌شود. هدف پژوهش، حمایت از فرضیۀ توانایی است. این پژوهش نشان می‌دهد در مرحلۀ تجربه‌کردن نوعی معرفت پدیداری برای شخص حاصل می‌شود که مبتنی‌بر معرفت گزاره‌ای پیشین اوست؛ پس معرفت به علوم فیزیکی منحصر نیست و به‌این‌معنا، فرضیۀ توانایی نادرست است؛ اما معرفت پدیداری پس از آن به دانستن چگونگی و بروز توانایی‌های سه‌گانۀ مندرج در فرضیۀ توانایی بدل خواهد شد؛ درنتیجه، فرضیۀ توانایی به‌رغم درست‌بودن قادر به رد برهان معرفت نیست و ازاین‌رو، فیزیکالیسم نادرست است.

Analysis and Critique of the Ability Hypothesis

Physicalism claims that the world is physical. The Knowledge argument does not accept physicalism because it claims that when experiencing the phenomena of the world, the knowledge obtained for a person is not physical. The ability hypothesis holds that what is gained through experience is not new physical knowledge but leads to the emergence of three abilities to recognize, imagine, and remember in the person and therefore the Knowledge argument is ineffective. The research question is whether the ability hypothesis as a defender of physicalism is considered a real solution to the knowledge argument? The research aims to support the ability hypothesis by adopting a new approach while believing that the knowledge argument is correct. In this research, it will be shown that in the experience stage, a kind of phenomenal knowledge is obtained for the person which is based on the knowledge of his previous proposition. Therefore, knowledge is not limited to the physical sciences, and in this sense, the ability hypothesis is incorrect. The ability hypothesis, despite being correct, has not been able to disprove the knowledge argument, and therefore physicalism is incorrect.
