Identification of Precipitation Types by Cluster Analysis Method Case Study: Zahedan. Iran

In this paper daily precipitation data's from 1.1.1966 to 3 1.12.2005 examined foridentifi cation precipitation types. first, days of precipitation extracted. then seven precipitationand four temporal param eters was defin ed for them and finally, matri x of 616 * ii for 90 jprecip itation days were created. a hierarchical cluster analysis by ward method applied on thismatr ix and five di fferent precipitation types were identifi ed. according to this classification,zahedan precipitation types are: i-medium, severe and frequent occurrence precip itation type 2verylow, very short term, more frequent occurrence and very quiet type 3-low, long term andquiet type 4-high, low occurrence and long durab ility type 5-very high, low durab ility and verysevere type. these five types, particul arly displayed the zahedan region precipitationcharacteristics
