امکانِ گشتِ سقراط در السیرة الفلسفیة محمد بن زکریای رازی

لئو اشتراوس در پایان کتاب سقراط و آریستوفانس السیرة الفلسفیة محمد بن زکریای رازی را «روشن‌ترین و اندیشمندانه‌ترین» شرحِ امکانِ گشتِ سقراط از بی‌توجهی به امور اخلاقی و سیاسی در دوران جوانی به توجه بدان امور در دوران پختگی قلمداد می‌کند. ما در این مقاله خواهیم کوشید با بازخوانیِ متن السیرة الفلسفیة رازی این مدعای شاذ و جالب‌توجه اشتراوس را تبیین کنیم. السیرة الفلسفیة رازی روشن‌ترین شرح این امکان را به‌دست می‌دهد زیرا آیرونیِ سقراط را به منزلۀ «تقیه» صورتبندی می‌کند: «گشت سقراط» در وهلۀ نخست مستلزمِ کتمانِ تمایز میانِ شیوۀ زندگانیِ نظرورزانه و سیاسی است. آنچه السیرة الفلسفیة رازی را به ‌عنوان «اندیشمندانه‌ترین» شرح این امکان برجسته می‌کند کوشش رازی برای افزودنِ متممی به «تقیۀ» سقراط است: قانونگذاریِ عقلانی برای غلبه بر بنیانِ الهیاتی سیاسیِ نظام سیاسی. از این جهت رازی همان رهیافتی را پی‌ می‌گیرد که بیگانۀ آتنی در قوانین افلاطون پی‌گرفت. بدین‌ترتیب رازی برای مواجهه با چالشِ الهیاتی سیاسی زمانه‌اش علیه فلسفه، افق فلسفۀ سیاسی افلاطونی را می‌گشاید افقی که پس از جرح و تعدیل‌هایی ضروری چارچوب دفاع از فلسفه و شیوۀ زندگانیِ فلسفی به‌‍‌نزد فیلسوفان مسلمان قرار گرفت.

The Possibility of Socrates’ Turn in Muhammad b. Zakaryya alRazi’s The Philosophic Way of Life

At the end of his Socrates and Aristophanes, Leo Strauss indicates that Muhammad b. Zakaryya alRazi’s The Philosophic Way of Life is the clearest and the most thoughtful exposition of the possibility of Socrates’ conversion from his youthful contempt for the political or moral things, for the human things or human being, to his mature concern with them. In this paper I will attempt to explain this strange claim through close reading of alRazi’s The Philosophic Way of Life. alRazi’s The Philosophic Way of Life is the clearest exposition of this possibility because it reveals Socrates’ irony as taqiyya: Socrates’ turn requires the dissimulation between theoretical way of life and political way of life. What highlights alRazi’s The Philosophic Way of Life as the most thoughtful exposition of this possibility is alRazi’s attempt to add a supplement to Socrates’ taqiyya which is rational legislation in order to overcome the theologicalpolitical basis of the revealed religion. This is the task Athenian Strange in Plato’s Laws undertakes. Accordingly, alRazi opens a new horizon Platonic political philosophy in his era to face with the theological political challenge against philosophy from revealed religion in which after mutatis mutandis his successors (AlFarabi, Avicenna, and Averroes) try to defend philosophy and the philosophic way of life.
