عینیت مفاهیم و داوری‌های اخلاقی در دیدگاه فیلیپا فوت؛ فهم‌های متفاوت از نظریه خیر طبیعی و مسائل پیش روی آن

تبیین عینیت مفاهیم و داوری‌های اخلاقی، از جمله مهم‌ترین دغدغه‌های فیلیپا فوت در طول عمر فلسفه‌ورزی‌اش بوده است و دیدگاه او در این باب در آثار متاخرش، به عنوان اثری مهم و تاثیرگذار شناخته می‌شود. فوت در این دوره معتقد است که داوری‌های اخلاقی، به دسته‌ای از داوری‌ها تعلق دارند که بر مبنای خیر طبیعی شکل می‌گیرند. در این دیدگاه، خیر طبیعی هر موجود زنده، با توجه به سبک زندگی گونه‌ای که بدان تعلق دارد بدست می‌آید. در مقاله حاضر، ضمن شرح اجمالی دیدگاه فوت در تبیین عینیت احکام و داوری‌های اخلاقی، با طراحی گفت و گویی میان منتقدان و مدافعان فوت، به بررسی قوت و ضعف نظریه خیر طبیعی خواهیم پرداخت و نشان خواهیم داد که نزاع میان مدافعان و مخالفان فوت، بر اختلاف میان دو رویکرد تفسیری از «زندگی انسانی» بنا شده است؛ رویکرد مبتنی بر سعادت و رویکرد مبتنی بر فاعلیت. گرچه رویکرد مبتنی بر فاعلیت می‌تواند تا حدی به نقدهای مطرح پاسخ دهد، اما خود اشکالات دیگری را پدید خواهد آورد.

The objectivity of moral concepts and judgments in Philippa Foot’s Theory:Different interpretations of the Theory of Natural Goodness and its Problems

Throughout history, “the objectivity of moral concepts and judgments” has been an issue of crucial importance to a great number of philosophers. Philippa Foot, a British philosopher, and one of the founders of the contemporary virtue ethics, is among the most inspiring philosophers regarding this issue and her last theory regarding it is well known as an influential project. In this theory, Philippa Foot contends that moral judgments belong to the category of judgments, which are based on natural goodness. In this view, natural goodness of an organism will be extracted based on the “lifeform” of its species. After a brief Explanation of philippa Foot’s theory regarding the objectivity of moral concepts and judgments, in this article, by formulating a dialogue between her critics and advocates, we attempt to analyze the theory of natural goodness and show that the struggle between the opponents and proponents is due to different interpretations of “human life”; interpretations based on happiness and agency. Although the interpretation based on agency can defend foot’s theory of natural goodness against some critiques, it creates different set of questions and problems which should be considered.
