Single crystals of nonlinear opticalmaterial bis (guanidinium) hydrogen phosphatemonohydrate (g2hp) belonging to noncentrosymmetric space group p421c weresuccessfully grown by the slow evaporationmethod. optical transmittance and secondharmonic generation of the grown crystals havebeen studied by uv-vis-nir spectrum andkurtz powder technique respectively. thetransmittance of g2hp crystal has been used tocalculate the refractive index (n), the extinctioncoefficient (k), reflectance (r) and both the realand imaginary components of thedielectric constant as a function of wavelength.the anisotropic mechanical behavior anddielectric response of g2hp has been analyzed.
