Characteristics of Dual Amplified Spontaneous Emission From Meh-Ppv Solutions

We report the observations ofdual wavelength amplified spontaneousemission from the solutions of a conjugatedpolymer poly [2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (meh-ppv) intetrahydrofuran and 1, 2 dichlorobenzene. wehave prepared meh-ppv using a modifiedprocedure and purified several times in eachstep, the material offers low molecular weight,low polydispersity index and high thermalstability, which are some of the most importantrequirements for the fabrication of photoluminescent devices. the variation in thefeatures of amplified spontaneous emission withincreasing polymer concentration is presented.for intermediate polymer concentrations,narrow emissions were observed for the 0-0 and0-1 vibronic peaks which were not reported insolutions to the best of our knowledge. the asecharacteristics sensitively depend onconcentration as well as pump power. the gainstudies show that meh-ppv is a potential lasermedia. by varying the concentration of thesolution and pump power we can use either ofthe two different wavelength bands for lasingapplications.
