Abstract    sea surface temperature is an important parameter in oceanography and marine measurements. also, chlorophyll-a is another parameter that affect the biotic and abiotic characteristics of marine areas. the present study was carried out with the aim of investigating changes in sea surface temperature, in relation to the creation, dispersion and distribution of chlorophyll a in jask port. in order to achieve the mentioned goal, the modis satellite images were used during a 21-year period (2000-2020) for different seasons. average values of both parameters were calculated for 21 years seasonally and annually and for the whole region, and their relationship through pearson’s correlation coefficient. according to the sea surface temperature distribution, the parts near the coast and the western regions of the study area have higher temperatures than other regions, which is probably due to the human activities in the coastal areas. results also show that the average sea surface temperature changes over time. on the other hand, based on the maps extracted from the chlorophyll a concentration, in terms of spatial distribution, the highest amount of chlorophyll-a is in the coastal and adjacent areas, so that the highest amount of chlorophyll-a is found in the southern coasts of sistan and baluchestan province, chabahar region, and also the western parts of hormozgan province. the results related to chlorophyll well show the presence of coastal upwelling in the northern part of makran coast. in general, the distribution of chlorophyll-a in the studied area is higher in cold seasons than in hot and warm seasons. correlation relationship between changes in sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentration shows that there is negative correlation in autumn and winter and positive correlation in summer and spring. in this study, by examining the maps of chlorophyll-a concentration in different seasons, clockwise circulations of chlorophyll-a changes were observed in the studied area, which can be a proof of the occurrence of upwelling in this area. to investigate the phenomenon of coastal upwelling, it should be noted that the occurrence of this phenomenon is due to wind leading to ekman transport, and hence, the change in surface water temperature. as a result, a change in sea surface temperature or a change in sea level can be a secondary cause of the upwelling phenomenon. the results showed that in the studied area, fluctuations related to the increase or decrease of sst do not have much effect on the amount of changes in the concentration of chlorophyll-a, and the only observed correlation between sst and chlorophyll-a was observed in the fall season, and this correlation was negative. so that in this season, following the increase in the average sst, the concentration of chlorophyll-a decreases.
