Women's citizenship and feminist theory [Kadinlarin Yurttasligi ve Feminist Kuram]

Citizenship,as one of the fundamental concepts of western political thought,institutionalizes individuals' relationship with the state and the political power. throughout the history,women have been excluded from citizenship and the public sphere. although women have attained social,economic,and civic rights in the course of time,this did not provide them full citizenship,because political and public spaces,in which citizenship is conceptualized and practiced,are based on male characteristics. this article aims to reveal how prevailing citizenship approaches and the traditions of political thought,which they are based on,set the ground for women's 'incomplete' citizenship through analyses of feminist theorizing.
