Comparison of Fish Catching Efficiency of Monoflament and Multiflament Trammel Nets in Eğirdir Lake

In this study, catching efficiency of monofilament and multifilament trammel nets were compared for fishing of fish species living in lake eğirdir. during the study a total of five trials were carried out from december 2009 to april 2010. in this study, a total 655 silver crucian carp (carassius gibelio (bloch, 1782)), 5 carp (cyprinus carpio linnaeus, 1758), 4 pikeperch (sander lucioperca (linnaeus, 1758)) and 2 vimba (vimba vimba (linnaeus, 1758)) were caught. both monofilament and multifilament tammel nets have 100, 110, 120 and 130 mm mesh-sized inner nets. the nets were hanged with 0.50 hanging ratio. all throughtout the sampling period sample number of only crucian carp were enough to compare catching efficiency of gear types. according to the mesh size, the fishing fficieny were found for mesh size 100, 110, 120 and 130 mm was 1.56, 1.77, 1.61 and 1.58 times more efficient in monofilament nets than the multiflament nets. it was statistically different catch amounts of monofilament and multifilament trammel nets having mesh size of 100and 110 mm.the result of this study showed that the most effective catching of silver curisian carp invading in our inland waters can be made by trammel nets having mesh size of 100 and 110 mm.
