چکیده    In this review, researches on the production of fish oil from fish by-products getting an increasing the importance in recent years have been investigated. in turkey, fish oil production (270.000 t in 2006, 385.000 t in 2007, 251.675 t in 2008, 204.699 t in 2009 and 229.023 t in 2010) depends meanly on anchovy catch and production quantity is not enough. so, significant amount of fish oil is imported to turkey. for example, 72,560 was imported to turkey in 2007. therefore, this leads the output from our country currency. on the other hand, in the world, similarly in our country only appoximately a half of total fish production is not consumed (i.e., total fish production was 89,740,919 ton in 2008 in the world and that uf turkey was 653 080 t in 2010). however, it is known that unutilized parts (head, liver and other visceral organs, skin, trimmings, etc.) of fish contain high levels of lipits and n-3 series polyunsaturated fatty acids necessary for fish diets. in conclusion, it is believed that production of fish oil from fish by-products should be considered for providing fish oil demand of turkey. in addition, developments in production of fish oil from fish by-products should be followed.
