subtitle edit vs. aegisub: a comparative study in the persian subtitling classroom

This study compares subtitle edit and aegisub to identify the optimal subtitle software and investigates the correlation between participants' theoretical knowledge of subtitling and their practical software competency, providing insights for academic and professional use. guided by a task-based approach and framed within kirkpatrick’s model of evaluation, the research involved 31 translation students who underwent a structured three-phase training program. the participants received theoretical instruction, followed by hands-on practice with both software tools. data were collected through performance assessments, subtitling tasks, and a validated questionnaire. the results revealed that subtitle edit significantly outperformed aegisub in educational potential and user-friendliness, with higher scores in professionalism and interface intuitiveness. additionally, a positive correlation was found between theoretical knowledge and practical subtitling performance. the findings advocate for the prioritization of subtitle edit in academic settings due to its enhanced pedagogical utility and alignment with industry standards, offering valuable insights for curriculum design and translator training.

بررسی مقایسه­ای سابتایتل اِدیت و اِیجی ساب در محیط کلاسیِ فارسی­زبان با محوریت کار با زیرنویس

این پژوهش با هدف شناسایی نرم‌افزار بهینة زیرنویس‌سازی برای کاربردهای آموزشی و حرفه‌ای، به مقایسة دو نرم‌افزار «سابتایتل ‌ادیت» و «ایجی ‌ساب» می‌پردازد. بدین منظور، در چارچوب نظری مدل کرک‌پاتریک و با رویکردی پروژه‌محور، برنامه‌ی آموزشی سه ‌مرحله‌ای با مشارکت 31 دانشجوی رشتة مترجمی زبان انگلیسی طراحی و اجرا شد. پس از آموزشِ اصول زیرنویس‌سازی و گذراندنِ دوره‌های تمرینی با هر یک از نرم‌افزارها، نظرات شرکت‌کنندگان در مورد هر یک از دو نرم افزار از طریق پرسشنامه­ا‌ی معتبر جمع‌آوری شد. همچنین، سطح دانش نظری شرکت‌کنندگان در زمینة اصول زیرنویس‌سازی، از طریق آزمون ارزیابی شد. نتایج حاصل از تحلیلِ نمراتِ آزمون نظری، فایل‌های عملی زیرنویس و پرسشنامه‌ها نشان داد که نرم‌افزار «سابتایتل‌ادیت» با کسب امتیازات بالاتر در معیارهای حرفه‌ای بودن و کاربرپسندی، به‌عنوان نرم‌افزار برتر شناخته می‌شود. همچنین، همبستگی مثبت و معناداری بین دانش نظری شرکت‌کنندگان و مهارت کار با نرم‌افزارهای زیرنویس‌سازی مشاهده شد. یافته‌ها حاکی از آن است که دانشجویان، به‌کارگیری نرم‌افزار «سابتایتل ‌ادیت» را در محیط کلاس درس بر نرم‌افزار «ایجی ‌ساب» ترجیح می‌دهند. از جمله دستاوردهای مهم این پژوهش، می‌توان به شناسایی قابلیت آموزشی بالا و کاربرپسندیِ این نرم‌افزار اشاره کرد که آن را به ابزاری کارآمد برای ارتقای کیفیت یادگیریِ زیرنویس‌سازی در محیطهای آموزشی تبدیل می‌نماید.
