چکیده
|
Venuti (1995) defines domesticating translation as 0 replacement of the linguisticand cultural differences of the foreign text with a text that is intelligible to thetarget-language reader, and foreignizing translation as /10 tran.slation thatindicates the linguistic and cultural differences of the text by disrupting the culturalcodes that prevailin the targetlanguage.the present study ahempts to investigate two translations of alice's adventures inwonderland, to discover the relationship between domestication andcomprehensibility of the text through comparing the frequency of domesticationand foreignization translation strategies employed by two different translators:pirzad and soleymani.since pirzad presented a more domesticated translation, one group of subjectswere provided with her translation, and the otherwith the translation of soleymaniwho was more interested in foreignizing. after administering comprehensibilitytest and analyzing the results through t-test, it was revealed that the group ofsubjects who had receivedpirzad's translation came up with befferscores and alsothere was a significant relationship between domestication and comprehensibilityof the children at 0.01 levelof significance.
