Representation of Gender Relations in AVT

This study was an affempt to investigate representation of gendered identities andgender relations through talk in both the english original and the persian dubbedversions of a gender-sensitive movie named the hours. adopting farahzad'smodel of translation criticism and fairclough's cda, the study - which was mainlydescriptive and subjective - soughtto answer fwo questions:1. does the dubbed version of a gender-sensitive english movie change therepresentation of gender identities and gender relations by manipulating thelanguage, compared with the ones rerected in and by the original version?2. ifyes, how?therefore, gender relations in both versions were examined according to theanswers provided to ten questions raised by fairclough at three levels ofvocabulary, grammarand textual structure.
