Ideology and Translation: A Case Stud

This article mainly focuses on ideology and its vestiges throughout translation, withparticular emphasis on literary translation. for this purpose, the researcheremployed the critical discourse analysis (cdal translation model which wasproposed by farahzad (2008) to delve into the potential and probable impacts ofdifferent ideologies prevailing in separate socio-historical situations on thetran slations of the american novel gonewith thewind.to carryout this analytical descriptive corpus-based research, three translations ofthe novel done by three different translators under varying socio-historicalconditions in iran were examined. the results clearly showed that ideologies of thedominant groups as well as those of translators working under different sociohistoricalconditions have visibly affected the translation products and manifestsigns of manipulations within both micro and macro levels couldbe observed.
