نقدی بر ردیۀ پارک بر استدلالِ دی‌رِی علیه طبیعت‌گرایی متافیزیکی

کریستوف دی‌رِی (2022) در مقالۀ «یک مورد جدیدِ معرفت‌شناختی به سودِ خداباوری» استدلالی نو در ردِ طبیعت‌گراییِ متافیزیکی ارائه می‌دهد. او مقدمۀ نخستِ این استدلال را دست‌کم بر دو رکن استوار می‌کند. رکن نخست نیازمندیِ استنتاجِ بهترین تبیین (ibe) به «باورِ متافیزیکی» است. این باور بدین معناست که وضعیت‌های امور در جهان به طور کلی تبیین دارند. رکن دیگر آن است که این تبیین‌پذیریِ وضعیت‌های امور در جهان نمی‌تواند علتِ باورِ متافیزیکی باشد. در سوی مقابل، سی‌یِنوگ‌بِی پارک (2023)، ضمن ردِ ارکان یادشده، استدلال می‌کند که اولاً «باورِ متافیزیکی» به ibe نیاز دارد و ثانیاً تبیین‌پذیریِ وضعیت‌های امور در جهان، علتِ باورِ متافیزیکی است. پژوهش پیش روی، به نقد دیدگاه پارک می‌پردازد. نخست نشان می‌دهیم که استدلالِ پارک علیه نیازمندیِ ibe به باورِ متافیزیکی ابهام‌های اساسی دارد. همچنین استدلال می‌کنیم که استدلال‌های او به سودِ نیازمندیِ باورِ متافیزیکی به ibe با دو مشکلِ (1) خلط میانِ روندِ شکل‌گیریِ یک باور و فرآیند توجیهِ آن و (2) خلط میانِ جنبۀ هستی‌شناختیِ تبیین‌پذیری و جنبۀ معرفت‌شناختیِ آن روبرویند. افزون بر اینها نشان داده می‌شود که استدلالِ پارک به سودِ رابطۀ علی میانِ تبیین‌پذیریِ وضعیت‌های امور در جهان و باورِ متافیزیکی، در اساس، خلطِ میان علتِ باورِ متافیزیکی و دلیلِ باور به آن است.

some critical observations on park’s refusal of de ray’s argument against metaphysical naturalism

christophe de ray (2022) in “a new epistemological case for theism” develops a new argument against metaphysical naturalism. he bases the first premise of this argument at least on two assumptions: (i) ibe requires the metaphysical belief, i.e. the belief that states of affairs generally have explanations, and (ii) there can be no causal relationship between the explainability of states of affairs and the metaphysical belief. rejecting these assumptions, park (2023) argues that (a) the metaphysical belief requires ibe, and (b) the states of affairs cause the metaphysical belief. this paper critically examines park’s lines of argument. firstly, it will be argued that his arguments against (i) carry ambiguities with themselves. moreover, it is shown that park’s arguments for (a) are problematic since he confuses the epistemological and ontological applications of the notion of explainability, in addition to the confusion between the process of forming a belief and justifying it. last but not least, it is argued that his argument for (b) confuses the cause of metaphysical belief and the reason for it.
