ارزیابی ترجمۀ بنگالی شاهنامۀ فردوسی از منیرالدین یوسف

شاهنامه فردوسی یکی از بزرگ‌ترین حماسه‌های جهان است که در سرزمین ایران، حدود هزار سال پیش به زبان فارسی سروده شده و همچنان یکی از بزرگ‌ترین متن‌های حماسی دنیا به شمار می‌رود. تعداد کمی از آثار ادبی جهان به اندازه شاهکاری چون شاهنامۀ فردوسی، مورد توجه مردم جهان قرار گرفته‌اند. این شاهکار عظیم تا کنون به بیش از سی و پنج زبان جهان ترجمه شده است. منیرالدّین یوسف (1919-1987م.)، مصنّف ادبیات جدید بنگالی و مترجم مشهور بنگلادش، متن کامل شاهنامه را در شش جلد، به زبان بنگالی ترجمه کرده است. نکتۀ قابل توجه این که یوسف، بسیار مراقب بوده تا وزن شعری شاهنامۀ اصلی را در ترجمه خود حفظ کند؛ یعنی این یک نثر معمولی نیست، بلکه وزن شعر آزاد در ترجمۀ هر سطر از این حماسۀ عظیم وجود دارد. یوسف حتی توضیحات مربوط به اسامی شخصیت‌ها را به درستی ترجمه کرده است. شخصیت‌های معروفی مانند رستم و سهراب نیز در ترجمه او به خوبی مورد توجه قرار گرفته اند. با خواندن این متن ترجمه شدۀ شاهنامه، به نظر می رسد که ما شعر یک شاعر حماسی بنگالی را می‌خوانیم. گرچه شاهنامۀ فردوسی به زبان های گوناگون جهان ترجمه شده، اما کار منیرالدّین یوسف نمونۀ بارز یکی از بهترین ترجمه های شاهنامۀ فردسی در جهان شمرده می شود. هدف از این نوشتار، معرّفی منیرالدّین یوسف، ادیب و مترجم بنگالی، و بررسی عملکرد او در ترجمۀ شاهنامۀ فردوسی است.

few world literatures can be proud of a masterpiece like ferdowsi’s shahnameh. this masterpiece in epic poetry has been translated into more than thirty-five languages ​​in the world so far. monir al-dinyusuf, the most prominent author and translator of modern bengali literature, translated the entire shahnameh into bengali in six volumes. he translated the epic completely but was very careful to retain the poetical weight of the original work. this means it is not an ordinary prose translation. he maintained the rhythm of ‘free verse’ in every line of this great epic. yusuf translated the descriptions of the characters as accurately as the original. renowned personalities like rostam and sohrab were described the same as the persian epic. so, it seems as if one was reading an epic by a bengali poet. although ferdowsi’s shahnameh has been translated into many languages of the world, but its bengali translation by munir al-din yusuf can be considered as one of the best versions. the purpose of this research is to introduce this version and the translator’s literary skills according to persian-speaking scholars.
