foundations of the theology of resistance from the perspective of martyr motahari

Authors ketabi mirzaali ,al-yamin hamed
Abstract    philosophical, social, and theological domains. this article, adopting an anthropological approach, examines the theological foundations of resistance in the thought of martyr morteza motahhari. the central question is how motahhari, by grounding his views in islamic anthropology, explains the legitimacy and necessity of resistance, and how his perspective differs from political or materialistic approaches.using qualitative content analysis and a documentary-analytical method, the study investigates key concepts in motahhari's works. the findings reveal that he, by emphasizing divine nature (fitrah), inherent human dignity, free will and responsibility, and the purposiveness of creation, presents a theological and human-centered framework for resistance. within this framework, resistance is not merely a reaction to oppression, but rather the manifestation of the divine identity and perfection-seeking dimension of the human being in the pursuit of justice and confrontation with injustice.this approach makes it possible to distinguish between authentic resistance and illegitimate violent or extremist actions, and it provides meaningful responses to contemporary challenges of the islamic world. the article concludes by underscoring the importance of revisiting the epistemological and anthropological foundations of resistance and offers suggestions for future research.
