بررسی و تحلیل مباحثه جان گرکو و ریچارد فلدمن در خصوص توجیه

پس از به چالش کشیده شدن تعریف‌های سنتی معرفت به وسیله مثال‌های نقض گتیه، معرفت‌شناسان معاصر در صدد بر آمدند تا با لحاظ شرایطی نو در شناخت، تعریف معرفت را از موقعیت‌های گتیه‌ای رها کنند. عمده این تلاش‌ها در دو نگاه متفاوت به توجیه خلاصه شده است. خاصیتی که موجب تبدیل باورِ صادق به شناخت می‌شود به نظر برخی از آنها درونیِ منظر فاعل شناسا و به عقیده برخی دیگر بیرونی هستند؛ این اختلاف برداشت موجب نزاع دامنه‌داری در معرفت‌شناسی معاصر موسوم به درون‌گرایی و برون‌گرایی در باب توجیه شده است. این مقاله در تلاش است از خلال مباحثه جان گرکو در دفاع از برون‌گرایی و پاسخ ریچارد فلدمن به اشکالات گرکو در دفاع از درون‌گرایی، پیشنهاد میانه‌ای را در معرفت‌شناسی مبنی بر امکان لحاظ توئمان درون‌گرایی و برون‌گرایی در شناخت به صورت دو مرحله‌ای کردن ارزیابی‌های معرفت‌شناختی همراه با حفظ اعتماد‌پذیری و عقلانیت نظری لازم ارائه دهد. طبق یافته‌های این تحقیق یک باور در صورتی معرفت محسوب می‌شود که هم از نظر عینی و هم به لحاظ ذهنی به‌خوبی شکل گرفته باشد اما ازآنجا که شناخت، دربردارنده‌ی عوامل بیرونی مثل صدق است معرفت اولاً و بالذات بیرونی و در مرحله بعدی به عنوان ثانوی درونی خواهد بود.
